An Effort Worth Mentioning…
Hi eatwithroy friends!
I was chatting with a friend recently about doing charities and that we should do what we can within our means to help others in need. Then I found out that she is in the bedding business which is providing quality mattresses at much lower costs than your regular superstores. I’ve compared the prices and true enough, theirs are a lot cheaper. This is possible by not having a physical store where tenants will be slaves to their landlords. Trust me, you see the prices, you’ll be like banging your head on the wall if you have just gotten yours. ;P
Why I’m bringing this up is because they are doing this free mattress program for the less fortunate since last year and have helped many poor families to have proper mattresses to sleep well at night (http://beds.sg/blog/index.php/category/free-mattress-program). But the sad thing is, there are bogus ‘poor’ people who applied for the program and later found out to be of well off status. It’s disgusting to know such truth but there are people like that living amongst us in Singapore and I hope they will be ripped off in many other ways!
Nevertheless, Beds.sg’s effort to give back to society within their means is definitely worth mentioning on my blog and FB. If any of you know such families in need, please refer them to this page http://www.beds.sg/free-mattress-program.

A Dinner That Inspires Me
Hi friends of eatwithroy!
You must be wondering what happened during dinner tonight…. well I’m not telling! Haha joking lah… of course I will tell if not why bother to write right? ;P
I was with mummy at the Thai Food Restaurant which I wrote about some time last year (http://eatwithroy.wordpress.com/2009/09/09/thai-food-restaurant-301-ubi-ave-1-01-273/). There I saw a poster of the exact write up I did for Kozine magazine… The old aunty there didn’t know that was written by me until I told her. She immediately thanked me profusely and even the young Thai cook came out to tell me that the write up was given by a customer who came to try the food after reading it on Kozine. He went on to tell me the lunch crowd has grown quite a bit after the write up and he and the old aunty were so grateful that they didn’t want me to pay for our dinner even though I insisted many times.

This totally inspires me to write even more on cheap but good food in Asia. Not because of the free food, (it’s cheap remember? So I can afford it!) but because I achieve what I set out to do; which is to help to drive traffic to stalls or eateries that deserve the recognition. I need to give credits to Kozine magazine for believing in what I’m doing and the ultimate goals I’m out to achieve.
As I will be relocated to Shenzhen, China in 2 days time, this blog may be updated less regularly as before. Nevertheless, I will still be blogging if I find any good and cheap food in China!!

Hi all,
I’m in the midst of experimenting on doing food videos on my own… filming myself is extremely difficult acutally, so trying my best to shoot it nicely. So if I’m with someone, then it’ll be easy for me to talk about the food solely.
Currently in Batam doing some food reviews and also a food trip down town at Nagoya Hill Plaza. Do keep a look out for these vids soon online.
