Teochew Bak Kut Teh (Balestier Road)
Saw this new Bak Kut Teh place open not too long ago along Balestier Rd just after Rocca building. Have been wanting to try it, so was there during the holidays to check out if the food has something to shout about since they have converted the entire corner coffee shop into an airconditioned eatery with open air seating for smokers.
Walked into the shop during dinner time, was almost full inside. Basically all the staff there are all from China… No Teochews around… But the aircondition was really bad… it was hot!!! So I moved outside instead which was a lot cooler! So I placed my orders and realise the prices are not that cheap also.

Braised Pork Leg ($5) - Not bad quite tender but the taste... not like the normal black sauce braised lor taste... it's just not there yet...
Rating: 3/5
Taste: Soup has loads of pork taste in it which is good. BUT, too much white pepper!!! It was so much that I couldn’t talk after that. I felt irritated at the throat after drinking more than 5 spoonfuls of the soup. MSG can be tasted also… which is bad. Cut the pepper and MSG by half, the soup will be a lot better.
Portion: Below average
Price: Stated along with the pics.
RTE: Not in the near future. I rather pay a little more to have better stuff from the Founder Bak Kut Teh just down the next road.
Location: Round the corner of Balestier Road after Rocca Building
Fish Soup & Braised Pork Leg (Lor 27A Geylang)
Was driving around Geylang area on Sun with my mum to look for the acupuncturist her friend was recommending and we decided to have Bak Kut Teh (Pork Ribs Soup) for lunch. So I drove to this pretty good Bak Kut Teh place which not many people know, so maybe I thought I should feature them here.
The coffeeshop is located at the end of Lor 27 Geylang, on the left side. Right side is the famous You Tiao Wang place. Manage to find a parking lot near the coffeeshop (which is rare) and so mummy and I sat down to order a bowl of soup each. We were asked if we wanna order a side dish of Braised Pork Leg as well, so I told the man I only want lean ones. And we ordered yam rice as well to go with the soup. The food came and to our surprise, the soup was fish soup and not pork ribs! Then I realised that the pork ribs stall only opens at 5pm… AARRRRGGGHHHHH… but after peering into the bowl of fish soup, it looks really tasty so we didn’t mind hehe…

Da place
